Inversant is a 501(c) 3 registered non-profit organization. We help low-to-moderate income families in the Boston area make their college dreams come true. The 2021 Inversant Scholarship is a need-based program for MA residents, awarding up to $1,250 to college bound students with unmet need.

Pre-registration is now open. The application period is open from August 16-26, 2021. Pre-registration will expedite your application process. It will not have any impact on our decision.

ABOUT THE 2021 INVERSANT SCHOLARSHIP

The 2021 Inversant Scholarship is a need-based scholarship for eligible students who are Massachusetts residents.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Resident of Massachusetts
  • Enrolled in an accredited higher education institution
  • Have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $10,000 or less
  • Demonstrate an unmet need

    • PRE-REGISTRATION: August 3 – 13, 2021 
    • APPLICATION PERIOD: August 16 – 27, 2021 
    • PROCESSING & REVIEW: September 1 – 30, 2021 
    • NOTIFICATION PERIOD: September 15 – 30, 2021 
    • ANNOUNCEMENTS: October 1 – 7, 2021
    • AWARD DISBURSEMENT: November 7 – 15, 2021

      Who is eligible?

      Any Massachusetts resident who is currently enrolled in a higher education institution with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $10,000 or less with a demonstrated unmet need.

      How many people will receive funding?

      40 eligible students will receive up to $1,250 each.

      How do I apply?

      The application period is open from August 16 – 27, 2021. Fill out the application form to be considered for the 2021 Inversant Scholarship. Once we’ve received and reviewed your application, we’ll notify you of the decision during the Notification Period. All applications are subject to the verification of information provided by the applicant.

      How much money will I receive?

      The 2021 Inversant Scholarship awards up to $1,250 per eligible applicant. Once the request has been verified by our team, the payment will be made by check and sent to the address the applicant specified.

      What information will you need?

      Each applicant must fill out a survey sharing the following information:

      • Whether they have a high school diploma or equivalent GED
      • Age when entering college
      • Dependency status
      • Attendance pattern, full time or part-time
      • Employment status
      • % of financial contribution to their household budget
      • If they are a single parent
      • The name of their college or university
      • Whether they are attending college remotely, in-class, or in a hybrid plan
      • If their family participated in Inversant or FUEL programming
      • Each applicant must write a short essay (300 words)

      All applications are subject to the successful verification of:

      • MA residency
      • 2021-2022 enrollment in accredited higher education institution
      • Educational expenses not covered by financial aid
      • EFC under $10,000
      What documentation will you require?

      Eligible applications selected as Finalists are subject to the successful verification and proof of:

      • Massachusetts residency
      • Expected Family Contribution (EFC) under $10,000
      • 2021-2022 enrollment in an accredited higher education institution
      • Educational expenses not covered by financial aid
      What if I don't have all the documents ready to upload?

      No worries, you’ll still be able to submit your basic application and we’ll follow up with you via SMS/Email to upload your supporting documents at the appropriate time.

      What's the approval timeframe?

      Requests are being reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. We will notify applicants—that submitted complete applications about decisions, on or about October 1-7, 2021 via email/SMS.

      How do I receive the money?

      A check will be sent to you at the address you specify during the Award Disbursement period.

      What's the difference between an Award and Scholarship?

      This Award is given directly to the individual and not to the school. This Award should not interfere with federal and state grants, loan qualifications, and monies awarded from the college or university.

      What are the terms and conditions?

      Inversant, Inc. (“Inversant”) will award funding for eligible collegiate study pursuant to the procedures outlined here.

      I am undocumented, can I apply?

      Yes! You are eligible and can complete the form without providing the requested information for EFC.
