Thank you for participating in our April $100 sweepstakes! A total of 44 parents submitted their answers to enter the drawing. Check out what parents learned from the April newsletter.

Congrats to Our April Sweepstakes Winner,
Melyna Nguyen!

Melyna came to the USA from Vietnam in 1987. She has three daughters with her husband, whom she met at Revere High. Her eldest daughter, Yen, was selected to join the La Vida Scholars program. Yen is a 16-year-old student at Lynn English High School, which is where the family first learned of the program.

Both Melyna and her husband attended college, so they know the importance of higher education. She explains that she had no one to guide her on the financial aspect of college and wants a different experience for her daughters. Melyna feels that the saving component of Inversant is very encouraging and motivating. She knows that “a little bit of saving goes a long way and it really helps at the end”. She found all the Inversant workshops to be helpful and likes that all the topics really teach her how to prepare her kids for the application process and set expectations for both herself and her husband.

Melyna stresses to Yen that, “a college degree is necessary in order to do better in life and accomplish one’s dreams.” She believes that a college degree translates to better pay and better pay helps to achieve your life goals. Melyna encourages other parents to start saving immediately, she says, “even if it’s $5 per week. Before you know it you’d have a good amount saved up.” We wish Melyna, Yen, and the rest of their family the best of luck!
