Ana Moscoso!
When Ana from our Chelsea program, came to the United States from El Salvador she was determined to succeed; she learned English, obtained her GED and is now a nurse assistant in Somerville. As a single mother of three children, Ana knew she needed to find a support team to help her prepare for her children’s higher education, which is why she joined Inversant in 2015.
She learned about Inversant through an informational flyer sent to her home, she became interested in getting a head start on saving and also learning about the process. She says, “I always had college in the plans for my kids but I just didn’t know what to do or where to start to help them.” Ana attends our monthly workshops and says that all of the topics from financial aid to scholarships have been interesting and important; she’s learning what steps to take and when to take them. Ana is also saving for all her children by making deposits every single month.
Ana shares that having a higher education, “opens many doors for your future. I always talk to my kids and remind them that they are building their own future. I tell them that their job is to study hard so they can win scholarships and my job is to work hard to save money for their college. I make them think and want big, and have them understand that everything is possible with an education. I came to this country and have accomplished a lot but I know they can do so much more.”
Her oldest daughter, DeeDee is a sophomore at Chelsea High and is involved in programs at Boston University and Mass General. She’s not sure what she wants to study yet but hopes to continue to explore science and math. Ana’s two younger boys, Mike who is 13 and Akanni who is 7 years old, enjoy learning science and math as well and are thinking about becoming scientists. We are proud of Ana and her commitment to preparing early for her kid’s education.
