Congrats to November Sweepstakes Winner
Haydee Santana!

“A college degree is something that is only yours and nobody can take it away from you. It’s something that can take you everywhere and anywhere.”

Haydee joined Inversant through the Neighborhood House Charter School in 2013 after both of her children, Carlos and Lardyn, talked to her about the program. Carlos and Lardyn are both in high school now and planning to attend four-year colleges. Haydee explained that her daughter Lardyn first talked to her about joining Inversant, but didn’t have all of the details. When Carlos later filled in the gaps, Haydee was sold and enrolled in Inversant Education right away.

Haydee said she did not take any steps toward saving for college before joining Inversant, so she is grateful to be learning about the college process and gaining the skills she needs to start preparing for her kids’ college careers. She hopes the Inversant program will continue to help other families like hers by providing parents with critical college resources and support.

Haydee said that both of her children understand the importance of a college degree. Haydee earned an associate’s degree from Bunker Hill Community College, but she expects her children to go further. She believes a college degree will help them become independent and gain more respect in their future careers. As Haydee put it, a college degree “can take you everywhere and anywhere.”

Because of her own experience in Inversant, Haydee thinks parents from across the state would benefit from the program. She encourages other parents to join Inversant so they can receive the same opportunities that Inversant has provided her family.
